A 38-year-old man has lost his life in Italy after entering the Tagliamento River to pull out his young son, who had been swept away by the current.
The tragic incident was recorded near Ronchis di Latisana, in the province of Udine, beneath the A4 motorway viaduct. It was several passersby who raised the alarm and notified emergency services after noticing people in difficulty in the river.

According to the Italian authorities, the victim was a 38-year-old bricklayer originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, living in Pontebba, in the province of Udine.
According to reports, he jumped into the water at the moment his 5-and-a-half-year-old son was taken by the current. Also nearby were the family’s two daughters, aged 9 and 11. The 38-year-old managed to bring his son to the shore, while the two girls and their mother were helped by people who were near the scene.
Immediately after saving his son, the man disappeared into the river waters.
Firefighters, a helicopter, and divers arrived at the scene and immediately began the search operation. After several hours, the lifeless body of the 38-year-old was found on the opposite bank of the Tagliamento River.
Meanwhile, the 5-year-old boy, who had suffered severe drowning syndrome, was flown by helicopter to the hospital in Udine. Doctors said that he is out of danger for his life.
