The meeting took place at the prime minister’s office following the KFOR change-of-command ceremony held at the mission’s headquarters in Pristina.
During the meeting, Admiral Wikoff conveyed the following message to Kurti: “The institutions have been established; it is time to move forward.”
Kurti told both officials that Kosovo is a partner and ally that attaches particular importance to peace and security, as well as to the protection of all its citizens. He also stressed that the country aims to contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond.
“In the third meeting this year with Admiral Wikoff and the first with Major General Vergori, we discussed the security situation in the country and the region, developments and current affairs, as well as cooperation and coordination between the institutions of the Republic and NATO. We are thankful and grateful for the contribution of the North Atlantic Alliance, of which we aspire to become a member, to lasting peace and long-term stability in Kosovo and throughout the Western Balkans. We are also grateful for its commitment to a calm and secure environment for all citizens and all communities,” Kurti said.
