Incident at Los Angeles airport as two planes collide on the runway with no injuries

An incident involving two planes occurred at Los Angeles International Airport, but fortunately no injuries were reported.

The incident took place on Tuesday at around 10:30 a.m. local time, and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an investigation.

According to the FAA, a Delta Air Lines Airbus A350 that was taxiing on a connecting taxiway for takeoff struck the horizontal stabilizer of an Air Canada Boeing 777 with the tip of its left wing.

The Air Canada aircraft had arrived from Toronto and, at the time of the incident, was being towed toward the gate; it had stopped shortly before reaching the gate, according to authorities.

Both carriers confirmed that the aircraft made physical contact and announced that no one was injured.

There were 275 passengers and 15 crew members on board the Delta aircraft.

Delta Air Lines emphasized that the safety of its customers and employees is its absolute priority and apologized for the inconvenience and delays caused to passengers’ journeys.

Meanwhile, Air Canada announced that the aircraft would be taken out of service for the necessary inspections and repairs.

Delta has also begun a technical assessment of the aircraft, while maintenance teams and airport staff will determine the extent of the damage.
