The clashes took place during a protest outside the Kosovo Assembly, where participants opposed the failure to approve amendments to the Law on Specialist Chambers. The protesters also expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict against former KLA leaders in The Hague.

According to Kosovo Police, a group of protesters repeatedly threw pyrotechnic devices, fireworks, and hard objects at state institutions and police officers.
After the situation escalated, pepper spray, tear gas, and a water cannon were used to disperse the crowd.
Police also notified the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, which will assess the officers’ actions and any possible suspicion that their powers were exceeded during the management of the protest.
