Ministry of Education: Graduating students cannot be forced to take part in protests

The Ministry of Education and Science (MAS) said it had received reports and evidence of information shared in parents’ groups on social media claiming that graduating students would be forced to take part in the protest announced for today, October 5, 2026, in support of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the protection of its values.

MAS stressed that no student may be forced or pressured to take part in protests or public gatherings.

Since the students in question are mostly under the age of 18, schools have a particular responsibility to protect them, respect their rights and ensure a regular learning process.

The school timetable must be strictly followed, while students must not be organized or removed from the learning process for any reason.

The ministry called on municipal education directors and educational institutions to take measures to implement these requirements.

The Central Education Inspectorate, within its legal authority, will monitor the implementation of the requirements and examine any information or complaint related to forcing or pressuring students, or obstructing the regular learning process, the MAS statement said.
