The LDK described the move as an attempt at public lynching and political intimidation, holding its MPs responsible for the choice they made.

The LDK’s response:

STATEMENT BY THE DEMOCRATIC LEAGUE OF KOSOVO

The listing of the names of LDK MPs in the same row as MPs from the Serbian List, as a consequence of our principled, logical and statesmanlike position, represents a low attempt at public lynching and political intimidation.

Our message is very clear: the LDK cannot be blackmailed. Neither labels, threats nor attempts of this nature will change our position.

Our position is rooted in responsibility toward Kosovo. We do not deceive the people with initiatives that fail to produce the legal effect promised to citizens. We do not give false hope, nor do we exploit people’s pain and feelings for political gain. Such sensitive issues require legal seriousness, as well as coordination with our allies.

It is equally clear that the LDK will not give up its existential identity. We are the party of Ibrahim Rugova, of freedom, independence and Kosovo’s Western orientation. We are also the party of the activists who were killed, whose families still await justice. No one can ask us to forget this part of our history, let alone threaten us because we are seeking justice.

The KLA’s war is sacred. Seeking justice for the victims is an inalienable duty. Kosovo must secure both: the truth and the state, while maintaining its sense of responsibility.

No blackmail can determine the LDK’s position. No one can take away its identity through threats.

We call on all political parties and their leaders to show responsibility and demand accountability from their representatives and supporters. They must stop the language of lynching and avoid turning this issue into a battle against one another. Our differences over the right path do not make us enemies. Kosovo needs restraint and cooperation, while inciting hatred among us only weakens the country.
