Following the incident, Geci went to the Kosovo Police, where he reported the case and handed over the information he had about the person suspected of threatening him by telephone, reports “Bota sot”.
He made clear that political debates and disagreements are acceptable, but threats to someone’s life cannot be justified as part of politics.
In his statement, Geci said that, because of his political beliefs and position on the vote on the Special Court, he had faced death threats at around 20:00, as well as continuous swearing and insults.
The MP announced that, after leaving the Kosovo Police’s Department of Serious Crimes, he had reported the incident and handed over all available information concerning the person who had threatened him.
According to him, the case is now under investigation, while he expects the responsible institutions to act in accordance with the law.
Geci stressed that people may have different beliefs, debate and disagree, but threatening someone’s life is not part of politics.
He said he would continue carrying out his duties as an MP and stand by his beliefs without being intimidated by the threats. In the end, he expressed deep regret over the killing of his cousin and all Albanian political victims during and after the war.
