Ilir Proda was dismissed as head of the State Police in March this year on the grounds that he had failed to ensure public order and security during a protest held by the Democratic Party, which also saw an attack on Enver Hoxha’s villa, where several foreign artists were present.
Proda has been at the center of opposition accusations over alleged links to organized crime.
The Democratic Party accused him of direct links to Suel Çela and Ergys Agasi, who, according to the party, promoted him to the institution’s top leadership.
