A 17-year-old tourist from Germany has reported an alleged sexual assault after spending an evening at a nightclub in Rimini, Italy.

The incident is reported to have occurred during the night of Friday, September 11, when the minor was in Italy on vacation with a group of friends.
According to Italian media, the girl returned to the hotel in the early hours of the morning in a confused state. She told her friends that she could not remember what had happened during the night, suspected that she had been raped, and asked to be taken to hospital.
In the emergency department, the 17-year-old underwent medical examinations and the procedures prescribed for suspected cases of sexual violence. The doctors’ report was handed over to the Italian State Police, which has opened an investigation into the case.
Investigators are also examining the possibility that the girl’s complete amnesia may be linked to the use of some narcotic substance. The young woman stated that she had consumed alcohol during the evening.
Evidence gathered so far indicates that she was seen dancing with her friends at the club before leaving with a young man.
Police have identified a 27-year-old tourist who was staying at the same hotel as the German group. During a search of his room, authorities seized several personal belongings, as well as his mobile phone.
The young man was questioned and, according to reports, categorically denied any violence against the 17-year-old. He has no known criminal record, and no measures have been taken against him at this stage.
The investigation is continuing, while the Italian authorities are expected to use the results of the medical examinations and laboratory tests to determine the exact circumstances of what happened during the night.
