LSDM says it has already submitted a draft law on dual citizenship and is demanding that it apply to MPs in the current parliamentary composition, ministers, government officials and directors of public enterprises. According to the party, the law should be the same for everyone and should return to parliamentary procedure.

The party emphasized that, while celebrations marking 35 years of independence continued, the Law on Restricting Dual Citizenship for Officials remained blocked.
According to LSDM, its proposal provides for a clear and uniform solution: applying the law to MPs in the current parliamentary composition, ministers, all government officials, directors of public enterprises and every holder of public office, without exceptions or “half-hearted” solutions.
LSDM says there should be no double standards or silence regarding those who proposed the law themselves but are now trying to evade it. The party also opposes state-paid officials having divided loyalties. For this reason, it supports the PLD initiative and is demanding that the law be placed immediately on Parliament’s agenda and adopted without delay or compromise.
In its statement, LSDM says that independence and true patriotism are demonstrated through loyalty to one country, Macedonia. The party adds that this cannot apply to Stoilkovic, his colleagues from the BIA who celebrate Ratko Mladić, and media chief Latas. According to LSDM, this cannot apply to Greater Serbian nationalists and agents of the Serbian security service, as they must have dual citizenship, pursue Serbian and Russian agendas, and feel at home both here and there. “For everyone else, it should apply,” the response said.
