Trump warns Iran of further strikes: It could happen again tonight, Tehran responds: We are waiting for you

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, warned that the US administration could carry out further attacks against Iran, suggesting that key elements of the country’s civilian infrastructure could also be targeted.

He made these comments during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit, where he said such an operation could be considerable in scale.

“It could be a major attack and it would knock a lot of things out of operation,” Trump said.

He mentioned power plants as possible targets, saying: “We will destroy them. I don’t want to do that, but if it becomes necessary, we will strike them.”

Trump also spoke about desalination plants, which are considered essential for the supply of drinking water, stressing that they would be hit only if circumstances made such a move necessary.

The US president also referred to Kharg Island, which serves as the main hub for Iran’s oil exports. According to him, the US military carried out an attack on the island the previous night.

“We attacked Kharg Island last night and damaged part of it. I told the military not to touch the oil, because maybe one day we might take control of Kharg Island. I told them not to hit the pipelines, but everything else. They did that and they could strike it again tonight,” Trump said.

The response from Tehran was swift, with Iranian officials signaling that any new strike would be met with a harsh retaliation.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in the Iranian Parliament, wrote on social media platform X: “Come, we are waiting for you and we promise you that not a single American soldier will return alive.”

Former Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati also criticized what he described as the “latest escalation,” emphasizing that Iran “has previously warned that the region is not a place for political games” and that the country “remains with its finger on the trigger, ready to respond to any aggression.”

The latest developments come amid a tense atmosphere between the US and Iran, as the international community continues to call for restraint and the avoidance of further escalation of the conflict.
