Trump at NATO summit: Iran is a “cancer” and must be stopped before it is too late, ceasefire is over

In a speech delivered at the NATO summit in Turkey, United States President Donald Trump used even harsher language toward Iran, describing the regime in Tehran as “evil” and its leaders as “sick people” and “cancer.”

He reaffirmed Washington’s position that Iran must not, under any circumstances, be given the opportunity to develop nuclear weapons.

“The Iranian leaders are evil people. They are cancer and you know what has to be done with cancer, you have to stop it as quickly as possible,” the American president said.

Trump also mentioned the reported attacks on Tuesday against ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as strikes against targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, presenting these as proof that the Iranian regime poses a serious threat to regional and international security.

The White House chief also said that the Iranian administration is “crazy” and once again underlined that the US will continue to oppose any attempt by Iran to secure military nuclear capabilities.

Commenting on the ceasefire between the US and Iran, Trump said that, in his assessment, it has already ended.

“I think it’s over. I don’t want to deal with them anymore, they are scum,” he told reporters during the NATO summit.

The American president added that, from his point of view, the matter is closed, while accusing the Iranian authorities of “lying” and calling any continuation of negotiations a waste of time. “Negotiators on both sides can talk, but they are wasting their time,” Trump said.
