A horrific incident has shaken Mexico, where a well-known musician, his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter and the family’s nanny were found murdered in an apartment near Mexico City.

Among the victims was 38-year-old Jonathan Meléndez, keyboardist for the renowned indie rock band Camilo Séptimo. His wife, 35-year-old Ana Paula, was four months pregnant. The 21-year-old nanny, Aleida Romero Victorio, who worked for the family, was also killed.
According to Mexican authorities, three of the victims, including the 3-year-old girl, were shot in the head, while another was shot in the back.
Two of the victims were found with their hands tied. The family’s dog was also found dead, with its legs tied. A 6-year-old boy was found alive in the apartment and had not suffered any injuries.
Authorities suspect the killings took place on Tuesday, sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
One day after the incident, authorities arrested two men suspected of involvement in the multiple homicide. One of them, identified as Diego Sebastián “N,” is suspected of being the possible perpetrator of the crime. Another, Gerardo “N,” is being investigated for his alleged involvement.
According to authorities, one of the suspects allegedly exploited his relationship with one of the victims to gain entry to the home.
Investigations are continuing to clarify the motive and the full circumstances of the incident. Meanwhile, the band Camilo Séptimo has responded to Meléndez’s death, describing him as a figure who will be remembered with love and gratitude.
