The severe weather affected several municipalities in the city, while strong winds caused considerable material damage. Fallen trees, damaged roofs and power outages were reported in several areas.
In Studeničani, most of the damage was recorded in the agricultural sector. The storm damaged greenhouses and various crops, while several residential buildings were also affected, mainly the roofs of homes.
The mayor of Studeničani, Ejup Abazi, said that, fortunately, the storm did not cause major damage in the municipality. According to him, several residents contacted municipal services to report damage to crops and greenhouses, as well as to homes and roofs. He stressed that most of the damage was recorded to agricultural crops, particularly farmers’ greenhouses.
Due to limited financial resources, the local authorities are unable to cover all the losses. However, the municipality is reviewing the funds available in its budget to assist affected residents.
Abazi said the commission established by the municipality will conduct on-site inspections and officially record all damage. The documentation will then be sent to the relevant ministries. The possibility of compensation from the municipal budget remains under consideration and will be determined based on the number of claims submitted and the extent of the damage.
According to the mayor, most claims will be forwarded to the relevant ministries. Similar commissions are also planned in other municipalities to record and report the impact of the storm.
Once the on-site inspections are completed, the extent of the damage and the need for assistance are expected to become clearer. Municipal authorities will submit the reports to the responsible institutions, while residents await assistance in dealing with the effects of the severe weather.
