Restriction on movement in North Macedonia’s forests expires

As of the end of today, the restriction on movement in forested areas, imposed under an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy following a request from the “National Forests” public enterprise, has been lifted.

The measure was scheduled to remain in force from July 1 to August 31, but high temperatures and the increased risk of fires spreading in open areas led to its extension until September 30.

During the restriction period, entry into and movement through forests was permitted only with written authorization from the relevant branches of the “National Forests” public enterprise and the National Parks, depending on the territory they administer. Fines had also been set for individual violators.
