The official statement says that Her Majesty Queen Margrethe was admitted on Sunday to Rigshospitalet due to her not being in good health.
The 86-year-old is being treated for a hematoma in the pelvic area and for mild dehydration. According to expectations, she will stay in hospital throughout next week.
Aiming to reassure the public, the Royal Palace stressed that, despite the circumstances, the Queen is feeling well and remains in high spirits.
This is the third time this year that Queen Margrethe has been hospitalized.
In mid-May, she underwent an angioplasty, after which she remained hospitalized for several days. After returning home, the Queen fell and suffered a hip hematoma, forcing her to be hospitalized again.
For many years, Margrethe had insisted that she did not plan to abdicate the throne. Her stance changed after a major back surgery in 2023, and in January 2024 she decided to pass the crown to her eldest son, Frederik.
