Parliament Approves $302 Million US Defense Loan with 74 Socialist Votes as Opposition Boycotts Session

Parliament today approved, with 74 votes from the Socialists, an agreement with the United States providing Albania with a $302 million defense loan.

The bill was initially discussed without media representatives present and was then put to a vote.

Democratic Party MPs and their allies did not attend the session, so the agreement was approved solely with the votes of the Socialists.

After the vote concluded, Speaker Niko Peleshi declared the session closed.
