Electric scooters banned for those under 18, Parliament approves legal amendments

Parliament has passed the Law on Regulating the Use of Electric Scooters, which sets stricter rules for their movement and aims to increase traffic safety. Under the new provisions, these vehicles will be allowed to be used only by people who have reached the age of 18. Restrictions on circulation and clear instructions on how they should be used are also envisaged, with the objective of reducing road accidents.

The legal amendments also provide for stricter penalties for violations, including speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and transporting other people on a scooter. For the most serious violations, in addition to fines, the law also предусматривает the temporary confiscation of the vehicle for up to 30 days.

Authorities say these changes are intended to strengthen road safety, as statistics show an increase in accidents involving scooters and similar vehicles, with cases that have resulted in serious injuries and even fatal victims.

The new law aims to regulate more clearly the use of these vehicles, which are becoming increasingly common in urban traffic, and to reduce the number of accidents.
