A 9-month-old baby from a village in Lipkovo was taken to Kumanovo General Hospital yesterday after the parents suspected that the child may have ingested detergent.

The incident was reported to the Kumanovo Police Department on September 2, 2026, at around 18:52.
According to the hospital, the parents brought the baby in for an examination out of concern that the child had ingested detergent. Examinations showed that the child was in good health and that the hazardous substance had not entered the baby’s system.
The case has heightened concern in Kumanovo, as it is the sixth recorded case in the region within a month in which a child was reportedly exposed to or suspected of being poisoned by a hazardous substance.
Police said measures are being taken to clarify the cases.
Six cases in just one month raise the question of whether this is a coincidence or a problem requiring greater attention.
