According to Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s foreign policy adviser, the “Power of Siberia 2” project will also be on the agenda of the talks between the two leaders. The 2,600-kilometer pipeline is planned to deliver 50 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from Siberia to China via Mongolia.
However, the ambitious initiative has remained stalled due to disagreements over the price, while negotiations on it have lasted for years.
During his stay in Bishkek, Putin will also hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with the situation in the Black Sea and developments in Ukraine expected to be discussed.
Ushakov announced that the Russian president will also meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
