In an official response to Top Channel, the State Police confirmed that disciplinary proceedings for a “serious violation” have been launched against the two officers following checks into the taking and publication of the photographs.
The police clarified that the footage from the moment of the arrest and outside the Tirana Local Police Directorate was recorded by passersby, not by its own structures.
However, the investigation into the photographs taken inside the premises is continuing, and several questions remain unanswered: who took them, who removed them from the police, and what specific role did the two suspended officers play?
The police itself states that materials obtained because of an official duty and not authorized for publication, when found to have been unlawfully disclosed, result in liability.
The suspension of the two officers is the first step. The conclusion of the investigation must clarify not only whether a violation occurred, but also who was responsible for it.
