This is the document containing the new regulation, which entered into force at the end of July and sets out in detail the criteria for travel, accommodation and daily allowances.
Under the regulation, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the Deputy Prime Minister and ministers will be accommodated in five-star hotels.
Members of Parliament, ministry secretary-generals and director-generals will stay in four-star hotels, while other public administration employees will be accommodated in three-star hotels.
For security reasons, members of the Republican Guard accompanying state officials may stay in the same hotel as the person they are protecting, regardless of the hotel’s category.
The decision also sets the amount of daily allowances for overseas travel. The President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of Parliament will receive a daily allowance of between 120 and 150 euros. For ministers and the Deputy Prime Minister, the allowance ranges from 80 to 120 euros per day.
Members of Parliament, deputy ministers and secretary-generals will receive 70–80 euros per day, while director-generals and ambassadors will receive 50–60 euros.
For other public administration employees, the daily allowance has been set at 45–55 euros. Another change concerns the way expenses are paid.
Travel tickets and hotel accommodation will be booked and paid for directly by the relevant institution.
Meanwhile, officials will have only the amount allocated for daily expenses transferred to their bank accounts before departure.
