The water supply situation in Gostivar is improving, while experts from the “Skopje Water Supply” Public Enterprise are taking and analyzing samples daily, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said.

According to him, a hyperchlorination process is currently underway. Mickoski said the developments are leading toward a situation in which Gostivar residents, perhaps for the first time in recent decades, will have drinking water that meets bacteriological standards.
The prime minister announced that the Prosecutor’s Office has begun taking action in the case, while several people have been detained and questioned. He expects the investigation to be expanded to include other individuals, emphasizing that responsibility has been established and that the necessary measures are being implemented.
Mickoski linked the problem to the irresponsible actions of several employees of the municipal utility company, who had diverted water from the river into the main reservoir.
He also announced that the state has provided drinking water for Gostivar residents and expressed gratitude to the companies and citizens who joined the donation drive.
Residents currently have access to non-potable water. The prime minister asked them to remain patient until the analyses are completed, expressing confidence that the water will soon also be safe for drinking and cooking.
