Starting tomorrow and until August 31, a traffic ban for heavy vehicles over 15 tons will come into effect on the state roads of the Republic of North Macedonia during weekends and periods of very high temperatures.
This measure aims to improve traffic flow, especially toward tourist centers, as well as to increase the protection of road users in conditions of high temperatures.

According to the plan, the traffic restrictions will be enforced on Friday afternoons, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays, with the goal of reducing traffic congestion and strengthening road safety during the summer season.
Also, in the event of heat waves, the ban may also be imposed during weekdays, from Monday to Thursday, during the hottest hours of the day, from 11:00 to 17:00.
This ban will not apply to vehicles transporting food, oil, animals, humanitarian aid, and other essential cargo.
