At the initial hearing held on Wednesday, he denied the charge of threatening former President Vjosa Osmani.
After the indictment was read by prosecutor Besart Mustafa, Sylejmani said briefly: “I do not plead guilty.”
Judge Bujar Ahmeti informed the accused that, in this case, the participation of a lawyer was not mandatory. Sylejmani decided to continue the court proceedings without a defense attorney.
Artan Qerkini, the lawyer representing the injured party, Vjosa Osmani, declared that he was joining the criminal prosecution against the accused.
Regarding the civil claim, Qerkini said they would not seek compensation, taking into account Sylejmani’s difficult financial situation.
The court informed the accused that, following his not-guilty plea, he has 30 days to submit objections to the evidence and a request for the dismissal of the indictment.
