In the cemetery of the village of Shipol in Mitrovica, human skeletal remains were discovered during investigations into persons missing from the 1998-1999 war.

Police announced that the Sector for Investigating Missing Persons During the War, together with the Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Government Commission for Missing Persons, executed the order of the Basic Court in Pristina – Special Department. The order provided for exhumation, autopsy and identification.
During fieldwork, skeletal remains were found, suspected to belong to a male victim of Kosovar nationality.
The remains were taken from the location and sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, where the necessary examinations and procedures for identification will be carried out.
