Just weeks before the midterm elections in the United States, President Donald Trump has come under fire from the opposition, which accuses him of illegally using taxpayers’ money to fund a television advertisement praising his image.
U.S. media report that a 30-second clip featuring the president aired on Sunday during broadcasts of American football games. In the video, Trump appears in black and white, walking silently down a corridor and staring into the camera, while excerpts from his speeches can be heard in the background attacking “warmongers,” “communists” and “supporters of a globalized order.”

The material begins with the words “This is the final battle,” and at the end of the footage, the text “Paid for by the United States government” appears.
Democrats immediately reacted to the advertisement, describing it as political propaganda funded with public money.
“The government is not allowed to use American taxpayers’ money to fund political advertisements. This is propaganda, and you are the ones paying the bill,” Democratic Congressman Mike Levin said in a video posted on the platform X.
Democratic Senator John Hickenlooper also repeated the same position, calling the video “propaganda” and “illegal.”
The White House has denied these claims, stressing that the material is not a political advertisement but a “public service announcement.” According to the government, the administration is authorized to distribute such content, while the video is described as “educational and patriotic.”
A U.S. official added that Trump is not “the same candidate” in the fall congressional elections and that the clip “does not call for any specific action.”
The video was initially posted by Trump in 2023 on his Truth Social platform, but at the time he claimed it had been paid for by his campaign.
This is not the only spot featuring the same slogan to have aired recently. A week earlier, another video glorifying the president’s career was broadcast, also bearing the message “Paid for by the U.S. government.” It repeated the slogan, “America will never become a communist country.”
In recent days, Trump has urged his supporters to act “as if” he himself were running in the midterm elections, in an effort to encourage them to participate in the vote that will determine the future composition of Congress.
