Police arrested a 56-year-old man caught in the act in the village of Gërdec, in the Municipality of Vora, on suspicion of demanding €300,000 from his cousin while threatening his life and the lives of his family members. The police operation was codenamed “Message.”

The investigation began after citizen E. M. filed a report stating that he had found a firearm cartridge and a threatening letter at the gate of his home.
The letter demanded the immediate handover of €300,000, while failure to comply was accompanied by threats against members of his family.
Following swift investigative and operational actions, officers from Police Station No. 7, in cooperation with the Section for the Investigation of Serious Crimes and under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, succeeded in locating and identifying the suspected perpetrator, citizen A. M., 56, a resident of Vora.
During a search of his home, officers seized military ammunition, clothing suspected of having been used in the commission of the criminal offense, and a mobile phone as material evidence.
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Tirana Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction for further action. The 56-year-old faces charges of “Extortion through threats to obtain property” and “Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition.”
