A 70-year-old man from Dračevo, Skopje, has died as a result of West Nile fever, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to eight. According to confirmation from the Ministry of Health, he had been receiving treatment at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases.

The patient was in critical condition and was also suffering from several underlying conditions.
The Ministry of Health announced that further information regarding the case is expected to be released on Monday.
So far, 56 cases of West Nile fever have been recorded in North Macedonia. Most of those infected are from Skopje and the surrounding areas.
