Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said efforts to resolve the conflict between the US and Iran have entered “very advanced stages.” According to the ministry, drafts of a possible agreement “are being circulated,” although no direct talks are taking place between the two sides.

The Trump administration has expressed optimism about reaching an agreement concerning the crucial waterway. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said progress had been made, “but no conclusion reached,” while US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested that a consensus could be reached by “today or tomorrow.”
Maritime transport analysts, on the other hand, remain more cautious. At the same time, a cargo ship is reported to have lost power after being struck earlier by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz.
An official said Iran aims, through talks with Oman, “to establish temporary agreements” lasting up to three months, during which Tehran could control a route through the strait.
