North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski described the departure of delegations from the United Nations hall before the start of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech as an act that does not express protest, but represents an escape from reality.

In a statement to “Lokalno,” Mickoski said opposition could be expressed through more creative and more powerful forms than walking out of the UN hall.
“In principle, I am not someone who avoids confronting reality. For me, walking away and refusing to face it means abandoning it. I do not believe that protest is expressed in this way; on the contrary, this is a withdrawal from reality and from the essence of the issue. There are much more substantive and creative ways to demonstrate protest. In principle, I am someone who wants to fight and win,” Mickoski said.
On Thursday, September 24, dozens of representatives from various countries walked out during Netanyahu’s speech at the UN in protest against the Israeli prime minister, as well as Israel’s policies and actions. Among the delegations that left the hall as soon as Netanyahu began speaking were those of Turkey, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Senegal, Pakistan, Sudan, Iran and Indonesia.
According to reports, Spain, South Africa, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria and Brazil chose not to attend the session. Meanwhile, Macedonia was among the countries that remained in the hall to listen to the Israeli prime minister’s speech./Telegrafi/
