Since the early hours of Friday afternoon, traffic has become significantly heavier, as many residents of the capital have chosen the weekend to travel to southeastern tourist destinations such as Pogradec, Korça, Prespa, Dardha, Voskopoja and the surrounding areas.
The situation appears more problematic at the entrance to Elbasan and at the Bradashesh roundabout, where several road axes intersect and the number of vehicles increases significantly.
Hundreds of vehicles are moving at an extremely slow pace and facing long waits, while the line of cars has stretched for several kilometers, creating major difficulties for drivers.
This congestion has been caused not only by domestic tourists, but also by vehicles carrying emigrants and visitors who are in Albania during the start of the summer season.
The stop-and-go movement has caused numerous delays, while the high temperatures have made the situation even more difficult for drivers and passengers, who have been forced to remain stuck in traffic for long periods.
