The alarm was raised around 5:30 PM, after the managers of these structures received an email with the same content and subject “Read urgently”. The sender claimed to have placed several explosive devices, with the aim of causing as many victims as possible.

In the same message, according to reports, the author also requested a meeting with the President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella.

Italian authorities immediately responded by launching checks at the six locations involved: the Cupole shopping center in San Giuliano Milanese, Fiordaliso in Rozzano, the Bonola shopping center, the Scalo Milano retail point in Locate Triulzi, Carosello in Carugate, and the Aquarium in Vignate.

The Carabinieri, who have taken over the investigation, arrived at the evacuated areas together with bomb-sniffing dog units, local police, and firefighters. Checks inside the shopping centers are ongoing to determine if any suspicious device is present.
