The protesters’ main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government, as well as the formation of a transitional government.
The protesters are also calling for the annulment of several laws, including the law on strategic investments and the law on protected areas, which they have opposed for some time.
In recent days, the protesters have warned that they will escalate their campaign on September 8, the day the new parliamentary session begins. They have stated that they will greet lawmakers with eggs as a sign of opposition to the government and the ruling majority.
The protesters say they are determined to continue their presence in the square and declare that they will not leave until the government steps down.
