Carabinieri in Gioia del Colle, in the Bari area, have arrested a 91-year-old man on charges of attempted murder of his wife.

According to initial investigation reports, the incident happened a few days ago, when the couple got into an argument over trivial reasons. As the conflict escalated, the elderly man allegedly grabbed a cutting weapon and injured his wife.
A female relative was able to intervene in time, after hearing the victim’s screams and promptly calling the emergency number 112.
The injured woman was immediately transported for treatment to Miulli Hospital in Acquaviva delle Fonti, while her 91-year-old husband was arrested and is now under house arrest.
Italian prosecutors are continuing their investigation to fully clarify the dynamics and circumstances of this serious incident.
