According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the statement was made in Pristina, where Crosetto attended the change-of-command ceremony for the KFOR mission.

The Italian minister said that the Balkans represent an important element of Italy’s security. He also said that the deployment of radars in the region could be considered in the future, with the aim of protecting both the Balkan countries and Italy from potential threats.

Crosetto cited as an example the missiles that struck airports in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that they had been produced by the Houthis rather than by specialized engineers, while having reached speeds of 8,500 kilometers per hour. According to him, this case shows what kinds of risks all nations may face in the future.

He stressed that, in the face of these threats, it is essential to maintain a presence in friendly neighboring countries in order to build a joint defense system capable of responding to such challenges.
