The protest that began on Wednesday morning outside the Ministry of Education has escalated into clashes, acts of violence and damage to institutions and businesses in the capital.

The crowd has spread along “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, where fires have been set near the Prime Minister’s Office, close to the Pyramid and at the Twin Towers.
Police have used tear gas to disperse the protesters, who then moved toward Parliament.
According to journalist Ardit Hoxha, the protesters have split into several groups and dispersed across different neighborhoods of Tirana. A larger group headed toward the New Bazaar area.
Tensions continue to accompany the protest in the capital, where clashes, fires and property damage have been reported.
