The National Alliance for Integration (AKI) in Tetovo has accused the municipal authorities of preparing to privatize the fire station through a public-private partnership. According to the party, this is one of the most serious cases of public property being put at risk in the city.

AKI councillors on the Tetovo Municipal Council are trying to stop what they describe as “the biggest theft of public property Tetovo has ever seen since the Monopol case,” the party said in a statement.
The party claims that the project envisages handing over the fire station under a public-private partnership model, while its value exceeds 10 million euros. According to AKI, this amount includes public land and expenses covered by the municipal budget.
“An attempt is being made to steal and privatize the fire station by disguising it as a public-private partnership. More than 10 million euros will be siphoned off through the transfer of public land and the plundering of the municipal budget,” AKI said in its statement.
AKI accused the leaders of the Municipality of Tetovo of treating public assets as private property. The party stressed that municipal land belongs to the citizens and to future generations.
“This property does not belong to them. It belongs to the people of Tetovo, our children and the generations to come. Every metre of public land lost today is one fewer opportunity for the future of this city,” they said.
Meanwhile, AKI called on citizens to support efforts to preserve public property. The party described this as a struggle for Tetovo’s dignity and concluded its statement with the call: “Stop the theft of public property.”
