Following today’s protest in Tirana, Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku condemned the police treatment of a young protester. In a video she posted on social media, the young man, identified as Kevini, is seen tied up beside a door.

Tabaku said she had met Kevini at the hospital that evening and that his body showed signs of treatment she described as inhumane. According to the MP, the footage released shows only part of what the young man had experienced.
In her response, she said that through their voices and protests, young people were expressing the feelings of the silent majority of Albanians: disgust with a rotten system that, in her view, lacks the morality and values needed to govern.
The MP said the anger was directed at a system built to serve a minority, while the majority is neglected and subjected to barbaric violence. She described this system as submissive to the powerful but harsh toward the weak.
For Tabaku, the only solution is to confront the system and bring it down through protest and the unity of citizens, with the aim of having a government that springs from the citizens and serves them.
