According to Gazmend Syla, the decision is unjust, while the KLA’s war cannot be placed on the same level as the crimes committed during the war.
“The KLA was never a criminal enterprise; it was our resistance against expulsion and massacres, and the only response of a nation condemned to extinction,” Syla declared.
The organizations have announced that they intend to establish a National Coordinating Council and a platform involving institutions, parliamentary parties, civil society, Albanians from the region, and the diaspora.
They have also announced that they will draft a strategy to oppose the decision while the case is being reviewed on appeal.
The Special Court sentenced Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison, Kadri Veseli to 18 years, and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years for war crimes. The decision may be appealed.
