Klekovski said that strengthening the Emergency Medical Service is among the priorities of the Government and the Ministry of Health. According to him, the 100 new vehicles will be added to the existing fleet and replace worn-out ones. The investment for this procurement amounts to 460 million denars.

The minister explained that each ambulance is equipped with modern and comprehensive medical equipment for intervention, stabilization and patient transport. He stressed that the investment improves the capacity to monitor, stabilize and provide initial treatment to patients during the journey.

The renewal of the fleet will continue, Klekovski announced. The objective is to increase the number of Emergency Medical Service vehicles from the current 140 to 200. According to the minister, talks have begun on purchasing 50 more new vehicles during 2027.

He added that staffing needs and critical points in the Emergency Medical Service network are also being continuously assessed, with the aim of sending resources where they are needed most. Klekovski emphasized that the new vehicles represent significant progress, but are not sufficient on their own. The aim of the reforms is for every citizen, regardless of their place of residence, to have timely access to emergency medical care under equal conditions.

The ambulances’ equipment includes an advanced defibrillator/monitor with cardiac pacing and monitoring functions, as well as oxygen supply and respiratory support systems for adults, children and newborns. They also feature an automatic stretcher, a hydraulic system that reduces vibrations during transport, integrated ozone disinfection and modern active vehicle safety systems.
