The Democratic Party convened its National Council today to decide on the position of general secretary. In the runoff are Flamur Noka, who has held this post for a short time, and the Fier lawmaker Saimir Korreshi. The latter formalized his candidacy in the final hours, making the race a two-name contest.
Earlier, the blue headquarters had whispered about a possible challenge from Elbasan MP Blendi Himçi against Mr. Noka. However, sources within the party confirmed to journalist Elda Menga that only Mr. Korreshi submitted the formal candidacy.

During his speech, historic leader Sali Berisha also made public the group of six candidates competing for the three deputy chairman positions. The list includes the names: Belind Këlliçi, Luçiano Boçi, Xhonatan Pano, Nikola Kedhi, Besa Manaj, and Erisa Bajaziti.

The Digitalization Department will be contested between Etion Kapedani and Renald Rista.

The Urban Planning and Territory sector is sought by Gentian Kaprata and Maksim Kola.
For Legal and Electoral Issues, candidates are Arlinda Ahmetaj and Marash Logu.
Properties will be managed by one of Endira Bushati and Ledina Mandia.
Public Relations will be led by Denisa Kele or Viola Kapedani.
Franc Nuri and Ledio Nuraj are in the runoff for Human Rights.
Meanwhile, for Partner Organizations, a vote will be held between Eva Meta and Malvina Lika.
The issue of Political Persecutees will be entrusted to Lorenc Luka or Shkëlqim Lepenica.
European Integration is claimed by Fjoralba Dizdari and Silvia Hasaj.
Agron Haxhimali and Ylli Asllani are competing for Local Government.
The Diaspora will have at its head Et’hem Aga or Petrit Tafaj.
Finally, Civic Action will be covered by Erges Eskiu or Jurgen Spaho.
