A tragic incident was recorded yesterday afternoon in Gjoricë e Poshtme, Bulqizë, where a 7-year-old girl was swept away by the current of the Black Drin River and drowned.

Immediately after the report, a search began to find the minor, involving family members, local residents and Police services. The girl’s body was found this morning near the Drin bridge.
According to preliminary information, the increase in flows in the Black Drin River is suspected to have caused the current to intensify.
Authorities are also verifying whether the opening of the gates at the Spilë hydropower plant, following the increase in flows from North Macedonia, may have contributed to the river’s stronger current.
