Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has expressed his sorrow over the death of Professor Eqrem Kryeziu, one of the historic figures of the LDK.

In a post published on Facebook, Kurti shared with the public his recollection of his last meeting with Kryeziu at his home in Prizren.
“Our last meeting at his home in Prizren took place toward the end of December 2025. We spoke at length, in a pleasant atmosphere, about the past and the situation in Kosovo. His human will and clarity of thought softened every health difficulty. Once again, he could not express himself in ordinary sentences; for him, a profound and simultaneously clear thought was the normal way of communicating,” Kurti wrote.
Kurti also praised Kryeziu’s role in politics, particularly his service to Prizren, as well as his long contribution to education and academia, where he served as a professor of Albanian literature at the University of Pristina.
“Eqrem Kryeziu, former mayor of Prizren, a deputy who signed the Declaration of Independence and former deputy chairman of the LDK, belonged to a generation and a period when political engagement meant uninterrupted dedication, to everything and under every circumstance. His book ‘The Poetics of Zef Skiroi,’ which he gave me later, is extraordinary. May he rest in peace!”
