A large column of black smoke rose above the building, as firefighting forces and emergency medical teams arrived without delay at the scene.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul gave official confirmation of the casualty toll, specifying that 27 people lost their lives, while the injured are receiving treatment at area hospitals. The Thai government chief stressed that authorities are investigating the cause of the incident as a priority, which for the moment remains unknown.
