Lumir Abdixhiku, chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, has spoken about the latest developments within the party, stressing that some of the reactions seen recently are unusual and do not align with the LDK’s tradition of functioning.
On the show “Rubikon,” he said he would speak with the utmost care in order to preserve the LDK, but also with the greatest awareness to “save the party.”

“I will speak with the greatest care to preserve the LDK, but with the highest awareness to save the party. I will try to speak to our membership so they understand what is happening. First, I must say that these are atypical reactions for the LDK. You must have noticed the coordination. First the party structures, the central presidency, then an analysis of the branches is requested for the branches first. Atypical for the LDK. It is atypical for communication with your own party to be done through social media, for meetings to be called in such a manner. With messages lacking clarity about what is being done, and it is not correct for someone who has worked with you for so long not to come and confront you face to face, in any case.”
Regarding the calls by Imri Ahmeti and Gazmend Muhaxheri for him to leave the post, Abdixhiku said he had supported them even in cases when, according to him, they had made major mistakes.
“I understood what you understood as well; I did not even know they had held a meeting. It is more correct and more humane, and I have no bad words for them. I defended them when they made even bigger blunders. I had to cover their embarrassments; I went through fire for them. I made political agreements for them, agreements they did not even want to make public. In order to be careful to preserve the party, but while wanting to save it, those first reactions seemed stale to me.”
