The prosecution announced that the indictment was filed on October 23 against the victim’s former husband for threatening behavior within a family relationship.
The judicial institution clarified that, based on the available data, no other criminal proceedings have been recorded in which Arlinda Zekaj, now deceased, was the victim.
According to the court, data extracted from the SMIL system do not show that any previous criminal case was conducted with Zekaj as the victim party.
Meanwhile, on September 7 of this year, Arlinda Zekaj had requested the issuance of an emergency protection order, a request that the court had partially approved.
The court explained that at that stage, only the request concerning child custody had been rejected. Following further consideration, on October 16 the party’s request was approved in full.
According to the official clarification, on September 7, 2026, at 12:14 p.m., Arlinda Hasan Zekaj, through the Office for the Protection and Assistance of Victims, filed a request for an emergency protection order against Jeton Sylaj. On the same day, through ruling C. No. 1300/26, the Basic Court in Peja partially approved the request, granting all the requested protective measures except for the issue of child custody.
Following the parties’ objections and the submission of the Center for Social Work’s report, a court hearing was held. By decision C. No. 1300/20, dated October 16, 2026, the emergency order was converted into a regular order, while the protected party’s request was fully approved, along with all protective measures, for a period of six months.
The court stated that the decision on the request for an emergency and regular protection order was immediately sent to the parties in the proceedings, as well as to the institutions responsible for its implementation.
