Regarding the rest of the submission, the spokesperson said that the victim had been guaranteed the right to use the property. The court’s decision, he said, also stipulated that her husband could not come within less than 2 meters of her.

Nikçi stated that the decision had been enforced on Thursday in the presence of the police, while a conflict broke out several hours after it was carried out.

He said that the victim had been advised not to go to that house, as this could expose her to danger.

He also said that Arlinda Zekaj’s 2 brothers had been summoned so that they could persuade her to stay at their home until a solution was found.

Arlinda Zekaj was killed on Sunday evening in Vitomirica, Peja. Her brother-in-law is suspected of the murder and, according to publicly available information, remains at large.

Initial information indicates that the crime occurred in a house and that the victim is suspected to have been killed with an axe.

On October 22, just three days before the murder, Zekaj had sent a submission to the chief prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Peja. In it, she requested urgent measures against officials of the responsible institutions, claiming that they had failed to perform their official duties.

The document, which bears a receipt stamp dated October 22, contained her warning about the danger she faced. She had also expressed concern that the institutions might intervene only after a person had lost their life.
