Haxhiu said that putting the Bureau into operation would represent an important step in the fight against unjustified assets, while calling on lawmakers to support the completion of this process.
“Public office cannot be either a path to enrichment or a shield for concealing unjustified assets. An official who cannot justify their assets with lawful income must be held accountable,” she wrote on Facebook.
The Assembly speaker said she expects lawmakers’ support for completing the procedures and implementing the law in practice.
During the meeting, the Presidency also decided to open a public competition for the design of the Assembly’s logo.
According to Haxhiu, following the completion of the institutions, the Assembly is operating according to a regular schedule, with the Presidency meeting every Monday and plenary sessions being held every Thursday.
She stressed that the government has around 200 draft laws on its agenda and that the aim is for them to be reviewed responsibly and without delays.
At the same meeting, a citizens’ initiative to amend the Criminal Code was also presented. Haxhiu announced that the initiative would be processed in accordance with the established rules and procedures.
