Despite limited participation, protesters said they would continue their resistance and demanded that Divjaka retain its municipal status. They argue that the proposed administrative change would harm the area’s identity and history, as well as the way it is governed.
In speeches delivered during the rally, residents highlighted Divjaka’s resources and human potential while opposing the proposals put forward by the territorial reform commission.
Opposition is expected to continue ahead of the proposal’s consideration in Parliament. The proposal for the new administrative-territorial division is scheduled to be put to a vote on October 8.
At the end of the 51st protest, participants marched through the city’s streets, repeating their call to preserve its current status: “Divjaka municipality!”
